Your child’s bedroom décor should offer a relaxing, engaging space. For infants, this room is the place they will spend much of their time, making it important to create an interesting area that will both keep them occupied when they are up and about and help lull them to sleep when it’s time to rest. To help you out, here are some of our top tips for designing your baby’s haven:
One of the first things you need to decide when you start designing your baby’s room is the colour scheme. In the past, strictly pink for girls and blue for boys was once the norm. Now, all different kinds of colour schemes are suitable but it is still important to stick to a theme. If you want something neutral, coffee colours and crisp whites will last the test of time. Or for a more fun vibe, yellow and green are great gender neutral colours that can be linked to a zoo or forest theme. Whatever you choose, the important thing is to stick to like colours to create a consistent theme that is interesting to look at without being too stimulating and keeping baby – and you! – up at night.
The most basic furnishings you will need in your baby’s room are a cot, a chair for you and storage for clothes, toys and other bits and pieces. Try to match the furnishing colours and remember to choose quality. Although it may cost a little more, it will be more comfortable for you and bub. Big storage options will mean you have more space and a piece that can last past infancy into their childhood and beyond. Remember to get bed linen to match.
Mobiles look great, keep bub amused and are handy both for getting them to sleep and keeping them entertained. There are lots of different mobiles available and your choice is entirely individual! Whether you want to inspire travel, have decided on a woodland themein the room or want something simple and sweet, there is something for everyone.
Toys are an integral part of your child’s development. They can not only keep your little angel occupied but also help them learn and grow. Some suggestions include cloth books, colour and shape sorters, walkers and play mats. Toys can also be soothing sleep aids, with soft plush toys and blanket buddies top choices.
